Okay, friends, family and all powerful social network -- I need your help!
INTRODUCING! A Crowdsourcing Campaign for me to bring my show, Bio-Hazard: a relative comedy to NAMI-NOVA's COMEDY NIGHT, a yearly fundraiser to raise money and awareness for mental illness!
Hope you check out the fabulous VIDEO we have created!
Now. It is my greatest desire to put a FUN and ABSURD "SEG SPIN" on this campaign!
I was thinking...
If the topic of mental illness doesn't lead you to give money -- there must be SOMETHING I can do to get you to donate!
So. In the spirit of Bio-Hazard: a relative comedy and my over-the-top shenanigans, I hereby state that I AM WILLING TO DO ANY HUMOROUS, ABSURD AND MAGICAL DARE proposed by ANYONE who is willing to give $100 to the campaign. And $1,000 will get you the SILLY DELUXE. Not only will I act-out any dare but I will also come to your house to clean, dust and vacuum and give you and your friends a private performance in your living room!
And to ALL of my artist and actor and writer friends who are as broke as I am...PLEASE DON'T WORRY ABOUT GIVING MONEY -- JUST FORWARD THIS VIDEO TO ANY WACKY, SPONTANEOUS AND WILDLY FUN PERSON YOU KNOW WITH MONEY, A PASSION TO HELP THE MENTALLY ILL AND AN INTERNET CONNECTION! HAHAHA
One disclaimer: No sexual dares, no nudity. I will also not eat a turd, a la John Waters. Also, I REFUSE to eat coleslaw, pickles or anything with vinegar. Thank you.
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
LOVE YOU ALL!
According to the National Institute on Mental Health, about 1 in 4 adults suffer from a mental disorder, and one in 17 people live with a serious mental illness, such as major depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia, The World Health Organization estimates that 450 million people worldwide suffer from such diseases.
Despite these staggering statistics, the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) reports that nationally, between 2009-2011, states cut more than $1.6 billion from their budgets for services helping children and adults who have mental disorders.
The need for mental health services continues to grow, and with those increased needs comes the parallel necessity to increase both awareness and fundraising dollars.
To raise awareness of mental illness and funds for NAMI-NoVA—whose mission is to support and educate Northern Virginians with mental illnesses and their families and whose programs are completely free— the organization sponsors an annual Comedy Night fundraiser.
