Dave Fuglestad is one of the most positive and compassionate people you will ever meet. Loved dearly by his family, friends, and the students and staff of Buffalo Grove High School, he continues to inspire everyone who knows him.
On August 2nd, while riding his beloved 1983 GL650 motorcycle, Dave was struck by a car. The crash left him with three broken vertebrae and a serious spinal injury. After surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital to stabilize his spine, doctors have given him a 5% chance of regaining use of his legs.
In typical “Fugie” fashion, Dave has kept a positive outlook and is determined to meet all obstacles head-on. Recently released from Northwestern’s ICU, he is now working hard in rehab so that he get home to his family and back to work with his students; however, he has a long, difficult road ahead of him… and each of us has the opportunity to help.
Your support will help us provide Dave with the funds he needs to build his “new normal.” Our goal is to help with paying for modifications to his home and the purchase of a specially equipped vehicle and wheelchair. We hope to help Dave recover as much of his independence as possible.
We will continue to update the site as we hear about Dave’s progress. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts. Any donation is appreciated. Please spread the word!!
