GCLA addresses school success by strengthening low income children, youth, and families through early education, youth development and community outreach, which will contribute to self-sufficient, stable and productive individuals.
Through our child development center, GCLA enriches the lives of over 200 children and families through high-quality early education, as well as family support. 97% of parents are very satisfied with the program and 76% reported that the program allowed them to accept a job, keep a job, accept a better job or attend education or training programs.
GCLA romotes a positive and healthy lifestyle and encourages responsible decision-making through a school-based comprehensive sexuality education program to 200 students at Washington Preparatory High School and through a Gender Specific program that provides 50 youth and parents with parent support, mentoring, empowerment workshops and mother/daughter activities.
GCLA also promotes parent leadership through the program Building Stronger Families in West Athens where parents are provided a series of workshops aimed to improve parenting skills and educating parents about the resources available to them in the community. In order to continue supplying the community with these programs and services it's important that we make this a successful fundraising drive.
