BENEFITING: Girls on the Run - Chicago
ORGANIZER: Girls on the Run - Chicago
EVENT: GOTR CHICAGO MARATHON 2015
EVENT DATE: Oct 11, 2015
It's my first marathon! I need your help getting there!
Girls on the Run empowers girls to be strong, independent and healthy through a wonderful program that incorporates running. If I had something like this when I was a kid it might not have taken me over 40 years to learn what these girls are learning at 10! Training for and running the Chicago Marathon is something I had in the back of my head for over 10 years but wasn't strong or determined enough to do anything about it. Well 2015 is the year! And I need your help to get me there. Seriously!
As you may or may not know not everyone who wants to run the Chicago Marathon can. They cap the race at a certain number of participants. Entries are only guaranteed to Elite Runners (not me!), Heritage Runners (5 times in the past 10 years - not me!), qualifying time from a previous marathon (not me either) or Charity Runners (ME ME ME!) Everyone else has to go into a lottery and hope to get in. So, in order to get to the finish line I've decided to run for Girls on the Run. One: because I really believe in what they are doing for girls and two: to get the guaranteed entry. I've never been one to have a lot of patience (something running has helped me with) so taking the risk of not getting into the marathon and having to wait to 2016 will cause me to go insane! If you believe in me and Girls on the Run, please make a donation. Every dollar gets me closer to the finish line.
If I havent convinced you to donate, although I cant believe you came to this page without first deciding to make a donation, let me guilt you into it. I am never having kids and not getting married anytime soon. In lieu of the all the baby and wedding gifts you WONT be getting me, make a darn donation! I will never sell you Girl Scout Cookies or wrapping paper or ask you to buy a bridesmade dress you'll never ever wear again! I think I've been a pretty financially low maintenance person in everyone's life that I know.... until now!
p.s. It's tax deductible!
