UCR GUARDIAN SCHOLARS' VOICES & VISIONS 2017

A fundraiser to educate and empower foster youth.

Voices and Visions will feature former foster youth Bethsheba A. Rem, affectionately known as Queen Sheba she is a: Atlanta based Spoken Word Artist-Alternative Rock Singer-Comedian-Host-Author-Motivational Speaker-Genius. Born in Detroit, MI, now living in Atlanta, GA - Queen Sheba is a International Poetry Slam Champion, winning poetry competitions in four countries. Queen Sheba is also a two time National Poetry Slam Champ, three time Regional Poetry Slam Champ and a Women of the World Poetry Slam Final-Stage-ist. Queen Sheba is also a featured performer on season two of Verses and Flow, 106 & Park, VH-1, and The Apollo.

 

The Guardian Scholars’ Voices and Visions Fundraiser will be held on May 18th, 2017 at UCR's campus concert venue, The Barn. This event will celebrate foster youth during foster care awareness month by offering a blend of photography, spoken word, and testimony to shine a bright light on youth raised in the shadow of foster care. Along with our feature poet Queen Sheba, we will have an open mic, young poets and performers who have also experienced foster care will share their stories. A pre-ception and post-ception area with snacks and non-alcoholic drinks will feature a photography exhibit of students who have experienced foster care.
