Dear Family and Friends,
Throughout my childhood and up until now I have been given the privilege to try all sorts of activities from sports, to art classes, to music lessons. Running has stuck with me since and been my way to relieve stress, balance my cholesterol levels, and bond with friends. The experiences I have made so far relating to running are unforgettable and will always bring back memories of muscle aches, endless amounts of sweat, frozen eyelashes and eyebrows, cicadas covering the running paths, hill workouts, post smoothie runs, but most importantly, happiness. After every run I have done, I have always felt better about myself and grateful for the ability to run.
I am beyond excited to say that I will be running the NYC 2016 marathon in November with Girls on the Run, GOTR. This nonprofit organization is very important to me because they teach young girls in elementary and middle school life skills such as communicating, building healthy relationships with others and themselves, problem solving, and developing confidence. At the end of the 10-12 week program, the girls are given the opportunity to complete a 5k which encourages them to lead a healthy lifestyle and set achievable goals. I introduced this life-changing program to my elementary school where I was one of the coaches for two years. I was able to witness firsthand the growth that occurred in the girls and myself. I believe the best way to give back to Girls on the Run is to support them in my first marathon and raise $3,500! Please consider donating, any amount will help me reach my goal and overall benefit the girls who participate in GOTR! All donations are tax deductible and can be made through my donation page, checks, or cash which I will donate in your name! To gain some perspective on how your donations will help: $35 can sponsor a pair of running shoes for one girl, $150 can fund healthy snacks and a pair of running shoes for 3 girls in our program, $300 can support a full season scholarship, and healthy snacks and running shoes for one girl, $1,500 can support 5 girls (equivalent to half a team!) for a full season!
