The proceeds from Greta's Run benefit people with special and adaptive needs. Granted to Challenged Athletes Foundation, these dollars are restricted to benefit Greater Westfield, New Jersey residents.
When you give to Greta's Run, you get to see your gift in action! On race day, you will be able to meet the people who benefit from Greta's Run.
Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) provides physically challenged people with the tools they need to pursue active and healthy lifestyles. No matter if they're headed to the Paralympics, or playing tag with their grandkids, if an athlete has the desire to pursue an active lifestyle, we're there to support them. RACING TOWARD OPPORTUNITY DESPITE THE PHYSICAL CHALLENGES
Greta's Run is organized in memory of Greta Schoenemann, a Westfield High School freshman who died from injuries sustained on the first anniversary of 9/11, when a tree fell on her during lunch. Her childhood friends, Jayne Ruotolo and Ben Nanna, founded Greta's Run in 2013, to continue the work Greta was already doing. In honor of Greta's sister Elise, who has cerebral palsy, all proceeds benefit people with special & adaptive needs.
“The Westfield Public Schools join with the community in upholding the values of kindness and compassion that have become Greta’s legacy. The students, athletes and staff look forward to helping make Greta’s Run a success.” Westfield School District Statement
