BENEFITING: Huntington's Disease Society of America, Inc.
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! I'm beyond pumped that the Huntington's Disease Society of America has given me this opportunity to bring awareness to a cause that's become very dear to me, all while I log hundreds of miles, sit on thousands of ice packs, and eat millions of pizza slices this summer and fall. On November 6, I'll be running the 2016 New York City Marathon to raise money for the Huntington's Disease Society of America. I'll be cheered on by thousands of New Yorkers, family and some of my closest friends, one of whom was diagnosed with Huntington's disease last winter.
Huntington’s disease is a fatal genetic disorder that causes the progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain. It deteriorates a person’s physical and mental abilities over time and it has no cure. HD is known as the quintessential family disease because every child of a parent with HD has a 50/50 chance of carrying the faulty gene. Many describe the symptoms of HD as having ALS, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s – simultaneously.
If you're like many people out there, this could be your first time hearing about Huntington's Disease. Awareness and research is the key to stopping this cycle and finding a cure. From community services and education to advocacy and research, HDSA is the world’s leader in providing help for today and hope for tomorrow for people with Huntington’s disease and their families.
If you're ready to show your support, just click the "DONATE" button and make a tax deductible donation today. If you'd like to learn more about the HDSA's mission of helping those affected by HD and their families, please visit http://hdsa.org. Thank you for your support!
