I FOUND OUT LAST YEAR THAT I HAVE CANCER.
I was tired all year and couldn't figure out why. It really cut into my riding, and it wasn't until Fall that I found out I've got lymphoma. Thankfully, with some chemo, I should be in remission in a few months and I'll be fine!
Others aren't so fortunate- some vets and first responders suffer real, permanent physical changes as a result of their service. Changes that keep them from doing things they used to. Changes than many need help adjusting to and/overcoming. Changes not always accessible through voc rehab or insurance. This is where Challenged Athletes Foundation comes in... "It is the mission of the Challenged Athletes Foundation® (CAF) to provide opportunities and support to people with physical challenges, so they can pursue active lifestyles through physical fitness and competitive athletics. CAF believes that involvement in sports at any level increases self-esteem, encourages independence and enhances quality of life."
I'm ALL about exercise endorphins as restorative medicine! Read a bit about them below, and check them out here.
Help me help them... donate as you're led, and consider helping out with the other charity rides I'm planning for this year- check them out here.
