Hey everyone! My name is Hannah Milton. This year the fantabulous charity The Random Act is going to Haiti to continue building a community center to aid the victims of the catastrophic 2010 earthquake. The center will provide shelter and education for the many children displaced by the damage in Jacmel, Haiti. I am raising funds and all contributions go directly to relief efforts to purchase tools, supplies and other necessary items to complete the community center.
Every dollar counts, and every dollar is appreciated. Please donate!
What this is all about:
This is important because since Haiti has dissapeared from the day-to-day news, aid and relief efforts have dropped off significantly. The country is still suffering from the damage it sustained and continues to be in great need of help. Haiti stil has a long way to go to fully recover. The Random Act has pledged to continue its efforts to help Haiti fully recover and we invite you to be a part of that support.
My goal is to raise $5,000 by May 1st to support their actions. All donations go directly to the charity. It's for a great cause and it's a fantastic opportunity to help people less fortunate than ourselves. Any size donation helps!
Some stuff about me:
If I meet my fundrasing goal, I will have the opportunity to travel to Haiti and support the relief efforts hands-on. If I make the trip to Haiti all travel costs will be out of my own pocket. So rest assured that your money is going directly to help the people of Haiti!
I went to high school in Singapore and while travelling around South East Asia I saw poverty and children in need in places like Cambodia, Thailand and Nepal. Seeing people in such poverty-stricken conditions fostered a growing addiction to community service. Now that I'm back in the United States, I want to continue helping people. I have chosen Haiti because I feel The Random Act charity stays true to their mission and produces tangible results in areas that need dire help.
Let's not forget the people of Haiti. Thank you in advance for your participation and donations for the people living in Jacmel, Haiti!
Have an awesome day!
P.S.-- If you donate, you will have the added bonus of going to sleep at night with bunches of warm and fuzzy feelings in your heart because you helped people in need :)
RANDOM ACTS wrote -
Two years ago, after a destructive and devastating earthquake ravaged Haiti, Random Acts provided major funding for a journey to Jacmel to assist in rebuilding homes, communities and lives. During our initial visit, a dental clinic was reconstructed, an orphanage was refurbished and a carpentry school with 1600 donated tools was founded.
Later, in 2011, Misha Collins and the Random Acts team returned. This time, we were joined by a group of 22 enthusiastic volunteers. For the volunteers, work began before they arrived in Haiti. To secure their spot, each person expended vast amounts of energy and determination to raise at least $5000. What a great accomplishment! The monies raised from those donations, and donations from our amazing supporters, provided the tools and supplies used during our mission.
While there, the volunteers and staff opened their hearts and arms to demonstrate the true power of kindness. They worked in the fierce heat of the Haitian sun to aid in the construction of a multi-purpose community center; a facility that will provide shelter, as well as educate and feed homeless and orphaned children. Plus, our team members participated in creative and recreational activities with the children, such as arts, crafts and games.
But, our work isn’t done. That's why we're going back in 2012.
