Thanks for visiting my page. In a couple months I will be participating with Belle, Rei and Eric in the OCD foundation walk.
Some of you may know that Belle has struggled with ocd for a few years, last June it all got to be too much for her to handle and she slipped into a low place, she was unable to attend any school, and basic life became a daily battle with anxiety and depression. We were fortunate to have wonderful treatment centers close by and she spent March and some of April in Mcleans inpatient program, she has worked very hard and been given some wonderful tools for mangaging her ocd and anxiety. She recently was moved to their partial program and we are super happy to have her home with us nights and weekends.
We are very fortunate to have health insurance that allowed us to take advantage of this level of care. Not everyone is as lucky and that is where the OCD Foundation comes in, they are a group dedicated to spreading awareness and helping people navigate through what can be a very stressful time. For people with no insurance this can be an invaluable resource, lot's of information and no co-payment needed.
Having a loved one suffer with a mental illness can make you feel powerless, having a place to go, where there is information available can change the course of treatment and illness with just a few clicks.
We hope by sharing our story it will help to break some of the stigma associated with mental illness and maybe raise some funds for a great organizaton at the same time.
Thanks for reading, and if any of you ever needs someone to chat with, please reach out, to me or to an organization like the OCD Foundation.
Have a great day!!!!
