BENEFITING: Alzheimer's Association
In lieu of traditional flowers, we are making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in honor of Jim Gardner.
Jim was diagnosed with dementia in 2010 and lost his battle to this disease on March 3, 2014. Dementia is a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life. Memory loss is an example. Alzheimer's is the most common type of dementia.
Alzheimer’s and related dementia is the most costly condition in the United States. (Yes, it’s more costly than heart disease.) While death from other major diseases like heart disease, HIV, and stroke decline, Alzheimer’s has increased almost 70% in the last 15 years. Over 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and at this rate in 35 years as many as 16 million will have the disease.
Rather than sending flowers, we ask that you join us by supporting the Alzheimer's Association as they pursue a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
