Joanne Simmons wrote -Friends and family,I have created this website on behalf of my best friend, my mother Jennifer Bridgers Bagley, who in the last month was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer. She is being treated by Dr. Kimberly Blackwell, a clinical oncologist at the Duke Cancer Institute and has already completed her first session of chemotherapy on 17 May 2013, with a second session on 17 June.
After her first chemo session, she was in great spirits, and seemed to have great energy, but after returning to work the following Tuesday, she was extremely tired and weak, making it hard to perform her duties as as a teacher's assistant and school bus driver. She is now out of work for the remainder of the school year. This may seem like a short amount of time that she should be able to "make it", but she will lose a months salary, and the household bills will still be there. This doesn't include the co-pays, prescription costs for each chemo session, and travel costs (gas, meals, and possibly lodging). Her husband Jimmie D. Bagley, is retired and is also a school bus driver, but has not been driving to ensure that my mother makes it to all scheduled and follow-up appts at Duke.
I am humbly sending this request to ask, beg, plead that if there is any ounce of goodness in your heart and you are able, please take a moment to donate to assist my mother so that she and her husband won't have to worry about how much money is available for her co-pay, prescriptions, or enough gas to get to where she needs to be, and her husband can focus on being there with her and find comfort knowing that they do have help and that there are people out there that care. We appreciate anything that you can help us with. Please help me help my Mom.
With many thanks,
Joanne M. Simmons
