EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Imagine a world without cancer. If so, my mother would probably be here today with my family, husband and four sons, cheering me on. But cancer is in our world and I am running to honor my mother, whose strength carries me every step of every race.
My beloved mother Catherine (Kay) Frost Hession was born and raised in Brookline, MA and married to my father, Robert, who was from Dorchester, and they were married for more than 45 years. My father was a retired Brookline firefighter when he passed away in June 2005. By August of the same year, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer and battled for seven months before joining him in heaven.
In 2014 I ran for Fred's Team in the NYC Marathon to support cancer research for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in honor of my mother. This year I have the priveledge to run for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in the Boston Marathon. I run for a higher purpose as each time my foot hits the ground, I'm stomping out cancer.
