Thank you for visiting my Fundraising Page!
The Junior League is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. In 2013, I joined the Junior League of Atlanta because I wanted to give back to the city that I called home for the past 5 years. The following year I had an amazing opportunity to move to the city of my dreams. So, I packed my bags and I now have the privilege of calling New York City my home! I transferred my membership to the New York Junior League and have been blown away by this amazing chapter and the wonderful members that I have met.
The New York Junior League provides a positive force for change for the betterment of women and children in New York City and New York State. More than 2,600 amazing women come together to support the community of New York City and improve the lives of women and children living in this wonderful city. One of the many ways the New York Junior League strives for change is through the Crisis Intervention Committee. I am on the New York Junior League Crisis Intervention Committee and work together with other volunteers to act as advocates and counselors for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence during their stay in the Emergency Room. Volunteers of the Crisis Intervention Committee go through extensive training in order to assist domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in New York City hospitals. We work hand in hand with the amazing Hospital Staff and NYPD Special Victims Officers to provide the survivor with the best quality care, support, and resources during her time in the Emergency Room. Just another example of how New Yorkers come together to support each other!
My New York Junior League experience has been extremely rewarding. Through my training and service I have developed wonderful relationships with other Junior League members and have gained a great amount of respect and pride for the service the New York Junior League provides to the community.
The New York Junior League has provided me with a huge sense of comfort and support during my first year in New York City. I am thrilled for this opportunity to raise money for this organization that means so much to me. The money we raise together will help fund the New York Junior League’s crucial community programs that work to improve the health and well-being of countless individuals.
This will be my first Marathon and I couldn’t pick a better group of ladies to train with! I started running in 2002, when I was 12 years old, for my school’s cross country team. I have included a picture (to the left) of my sister and me after my first cross country race. Look at those smiles! I am sure you will all get a good laugh out of it. I hope I look this good when I finish my first Marathon!
Thank you all for your support and love over these next few months!
