DAY TO GO
"I love that we can get exercise and that we get more healthy...and we can know how to exercise when we grow up, so we can stay healthy and live a long life." - Ariana, Project R.U.N. participant
Kids of STEEL is a physical activity and nutrition program designed by the experts at P3R to motivate children to pursue quality nutrition and an active lifestyle by incorporating exercise and healthy eating habits into their daily routine. The program is offered free of charge to any interested classroom, school or youth organization.
There are many barriers for urban youth who want to participate in Kids of STEEL. Whether the barrier is cost, transportation, footwear or adult support, no child should be denied the opportunity to participate. Project R.U.N. (Reaching Underserved Neighborhoods) offers additional support to selected schools and community-based organizations in Allegheny County who want to offer Kids of STEEL.
Through your fundraising efforts and contributions, P3R can provide:
- On-site coaching
- Food tastings
- A new pair of running shoes (if requested)
- Free registrations to the Toyota Pittsburgh Kids Marathon
- Free transportation to the Toyota Pittsburgh Kids Marathon
- Youth programming initiatives
Over the past seven years, more than 18,000 children have completed the KOS program. Kids of STEEL was named 2015 Youth Program of the Year by Running USA.
