I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine small cell cervical cancer in August of 2011. At the time I was 35 weeks pregnant with my son Camden. This is a rare and aggressive form with no treatment protocol and generally has a poor prognosis. This type accounts for fewer than 3% of all cervical cancer cases and most oncologists have never seen it. My treatment included a radical hysterectomy with lymph node removal and four rounds of chemotherapy. Four weeks after, it had spread to a muscle in my hip and I then did radiation for 5 days a week for 6 weeks. Unfortunately the radiation did not cure me. I recently had surgery to remove the tumor and was surprised to find out that there was more cancer in a lymph node on the opposite side. Just a reminder of how aggressive this cancer is. I'm currently waiting to find out when my next course of chemotherapy will start.
We have partnered with MD Anderson to get research going for the hope of a better prognosis. All funds donated on this site will go directly to the research fund at MD Anderson that is specifically for small cell cervical cancer. Please help us reach our goal!
