THE STORY:

First off, thank you for coming to visit my page to help raise money for the Pat Tillman foundation.  The Pat Tillman Foundation was established in 2004 and has raised almost $1 million to date to provide military veterans and their spouses academic scholarships.

About Me

I am not going to tell you how I 'like' to run, because I think most of us can agree it's definitely not fun.  So you are probably wondering what I am doing running what most consider to be a pretty grueling event.  Since graduating from Miami of Ohio (Go Redhawks!), I have started to workout on a consistent basis.  Many people who know me would probably say I really enjoy working out based on the amount I do it, however that is not the case.  What I have learned about myself is that I actually don't like working out.  The thing that draws me to working out, as well as plenty of other things in life, is that I like to test what my limits are.  Whether it's running 17 miles in golf shoes after having drank a few beers or getting in the ring for few rounds and boxing somebody with a hefty weight advantage.  I have found that the one thing that keeps me sane while growing up is doing things that I really do not want to do and seeing exactly how far I can push myself to accomplish a task.  With that being said, I am honored to be apart  of a charity that was founded after a person who will always be remembered for pushing limits, as well as many other qualities that I admire.

So if you are a friend of mine visiting this page, donate some money, come to the event, stand somewhere on the course in the later miles, and watch as I pass by probably looking like I'm going to pass out.  If you heard about this from one of my friends or family members, let's give back to the people who help us.  Thank you for your support!

About Pat Tillman and the Foundation

Told he was too small to ever play football, he defied skeptics, first as an All-American ASU Sun Devil and then, as a record-breaking safety for the Arizona Cardinals. In the spring of 2002, Pat  announced to the Cardinals he had decided to place his NFL career on hold to enlist in the U.S. Army with his brother, Kevin. Pat and Kevin joined the U.S. Army that July, committing to a three-year term. They served tours in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, and in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom in 2004. On the evening of April 22, 2004, Pat’s unit was ambushed as it traveled through the rugged, canyon terrain of eastern Afghanistan. His heroic efforts to provide cover for fellow soldiers as they escaped from the canyon led to his untimely and tragic death via fratricide. While the story of Pat’s death may have been the most publicized in the War on Terror, it is Pat’s life, principles and service that are his true legacy. Pat’s family and friends started the Pat Tillman Foundation to carry forward that legacy by giving military veterans and spouses who embody those principles the educational tools and support to reach their fullest potential as leaders, no matter how they choose to serve.
