Liz's 10K for Carin
Organized by: Liz Brady Witherspoon
EVENT DATE Sep 07, 2015
What you notice first about Carin is her beautiful smile, amazing optimism and her can-do spirit. When we met in middle school band in Kentucky, I noticed her flute (I played clarinet). She has the perfect combination of compassion and intelligence to choose a nursing career, which she loved until another “C” entered her life: Cancer. For over 10 yrs, Carin has battled breast cancer. Does that “C” get her down? No. In those years, Carin became a mother to Garrett (now 7), and an activist founding a non-profit called Carin for Nurses http://carinfornurses.org/ to help nurses pay their medical expenses. Her faith, generosity, good humor and optimism are unbounded. Carin receives chemotherapy every four weeks, each co-pay totaling $400. This regimen had taken her completely out of the work force and onto Medicare. Despite her industriousness, there are always more personal and medical expenses to face. On Monday, September 7th, I’ll be running 6.2 miles in the Burlingame Spirit Run for Carin. I’d like to raise a hundred dollars for every 1/2 mile I run to provide to Carin and her son. Please support me in any way you can and help an amazing friend, mom, nurse and activist.
This donation is not tax deductable and is intended to help with medical costs. If you would like to give to Carin's non-profit which is a 501C3, please do so (link above).
