Dear Friends and Family, I …
Dear Friends and Family,

I hope you are doing well! I want to thank you for being so supportive of my fundraising efforts in the past and give you an update on my running for a cause efforts. As you remember, last year I ran the Boston Marathon for the Samaritan's Boston Suicide Prevention Helpline. This experience left me inspired and helped me complete a goal of running a marathon. However, my biggest take away from the experience was how incredible it felt to overcome something so mentally and physically challenging. With that in mind, I've decided to make running a race to raise awareness of mental health an annual campaign as an individual. I love running and I believe it can help develop a positive, healthy mindset, which is why I love the idea of running in support of mental health issues.

That being said, I have decided to run a 5K in April for the national, non-profit organization, To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), which is based in Melbourne, FL. I will be traveling down there to run the event and am hoping to raise $1,000 to donate to their efforts to help those suffering from mental health issues receive therapy.

I am reaching out to you because you supported my fundraiser last year when I ran the Boston Marathon. I hope you will join me in continuing to support mental health awareness. This issue is very close to my heart and it is my hope that I can help bring an end to suicide and shine a positive light for those who are lost in the dark. Thank you for being on my side and helping me move forward.

All the best,

In case you haven't heard I …
In case you haven't heard I finished the 2012 Boston Marathon in around 6.5 hrs. I had to make a couple of stops at the medical tenet (and maybe a portopotty or two,) But I did it. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the Samartans on behalf of Team Struppa. Because of your kindness I was able to raise OVER $5,000 for this great cause. Overall, the Samaritans team raised over $108,000 that will go towards their life saving services. Because of YOUR kindness, someone will survive!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We did it! I just wanted to …
We did it! I just wanted to say a BIG thank you for supporting my Boston Marathon efforts on behalf of Samaritans and in memory of my Dad. I finished the 116th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 16, 2012 in 5:31:15 with temperatures peaking at 89F during the race. To date I’ve helped to raise awareness of suicide prevention with many people, including you, and in the media in both Glasgow and Boston. To remind you why I chose to run the distance for suicide prevention please check out the NECN link of a TV appearance I made with my fellow team member, Mike. With your support I’ve already raised over $8,500 for Samaritans’ life-saving suicide prevention services. I’m now hoping to reach $10,000 which is double my original goal.
I apologize for the delay in sending out this thank-you but it has taken me a few days to start to process this awesome experience which has created a lifetime of wonderful memories for me. It was an honor to participate in the Boston Marathon on behalf of Samaritans and the people it serves every year. Please remember every suicide is preventable.

Take care

Hello, Well all my hard wor…
Hello,

Well all my hard work is done. I have one short run planned for tomorrow and then it will be time to hit the streets on Marathon Monday to raise awareness of suicide prevention.

The forecast for April 16th is calling for higher than normal temperatures on the course so the flying Scotswoman will be taking it slow.

I just wanted to take the time to say 'thank-you- again for your support on behalf of Samaritans and in memory of my dad. I couldn't have got to this stage without you!!

Here is some marathon info which may be useful for my Boston/American-based friends:

My bib number is 25134 and I don't start until 10.40am.

To all who have donated to this great cause, THANK YOU!!! Your kindness to the Samaritans ensures that there will always be someone there to answer the call for help. I am one week away from the Boston Marathon and raising awareness about suicide and depression. Please know that you are not alone and there are people who care. Please spread the word about this great cause. If you are able to afford it, please consider donating again to this great cause, ask your friends family, coworkers, coffee barista, anyone. Every little bit helps ensure that someone, somewhere knows that there is help when they are feeling low and need someone to talk to. Once again, thank you for your kindness and I appreciate your help in letting people know that help is there. Thank you again,
Mike
