Ebola virus disease (EVD), formerly known as Ebola haemorrhagic fever, is a severe outbreak that have a case fatality rate of up to 90%. No licensed vaccine for EVD is available as it continue to spread in West Africa with the highest fatality rates in Guinea, Liberia and Nigeria. This fundraiser will help contribute to further studies toward finding a cure to this disease while providing preventive measure to these poor nations. The total number of cases stands at 3,069, with 40% occurring in the past three weeks. However, most cases are concentrated in only a few localities. Corpses in Liberia, Guinea and Nigeria are being buried without determining a cause of death according to World Health Organization. Medical staff cannot keep up with current health demands, especially with the limited supplies they have on hand. Neighboring countries have closed their borders to help contain it only in affected countries. My challenge to everyone is to create awareness, help me raise this money which will benefit MSF who is a leading charity working on the field in these countries.
