Electricity is scarce, expensive, and completely unreliable in Haiti.
Mamababy's mission is to lower the maternal, fetal, and neonatal mortality rate in Haiti. They are succeeding! Every day the clinic treats over 40 women and delivers approximately 20 babies a week. However, unreliable power means there is no way to store medicine, antibiotics, and vaccines.
Help us provide an alternative, sustainable energy source for this clinic in Cap Haitien. Currently, the clinic runs off a small diesel generator that they can only afford to run a few hours a day - mostly to turn on their well pump to get some water for the day. We are planning on installing a 3kw solar system with a battery back-up system to provide Mamababy with the bare essentials they need to provide safe, reliable care. This will allow them to run fans, lights, and a refrigerator for their medicines.
