I am honored and privileged to participate in The 31 Heroes Project WOD on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at CrossFit Mayview. I discovered 31 Heroes through the Veterans Network where I work, and it has become a very important part of my life for the past 3 months. I joined CrossFit Mayview solely for the purpose to participate in this WOD; however, in the process and along the way, I have gained so much more than a few muscles. When I want to quit and I'm tired and can't breath, I think of those out there willing to lay it all on the line for my freedom. The comradery and support that is at the box is contagious. I can only imagine how it feels to be part of the brotherhood in the military.
There is a feeling you get when you are passionate about being able to be involved in something to give back. I am not a veteran, but maybe it is just in my blood. My grandfather, William Nye, is a veteran of WWII and the Korean War and survived the D-Day Allied invasion of Utah Beach. He is a man of integrity, respect, honor and is by far the best man I have ever known. I am lucky and blessed to have such an amazing role model.
Please join me in remembering those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, and show your support to our vetereans and those who are fighting for our freedom right now. I may not be able to fill their shoes, but I will always support our troops. Thank you.
