Malaria kills nearly two million people in sub-Sahara Africa annually. In Malawi alone, up to one-quarter of the children born die from its effects within the first five years of life. I will be running my first marathon in Philadelphia on November 17, 2013 to raise money for the Blantyre Malaria Project. The Blantyre Malaria Project at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi was founded in 1986 by Dr. Terrie Taylor to better understand, treat, and prevent malaria in young children. They have treated thousands of children with severe malaria, and continue to make great strides in malaria research. The money I raise will be used to buy bednets, pay for malaria treatment, and fund malaria research projects in Malawi. With your help, we can make a difference!
