BENEFITING: MARCIE MAZZOLA FOUNDATION
ORGANIZER: MARCIE MAZZOLA FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Hi! My name is Heather Lennon, and I'm a senior at the University of Notre Dame. This November, I'm running the 2016 NYC Marathon for The Marcie Mazzola Foundation, a cause that is VERY close to my heart, and I'd like to tell you a bit about why I vowed to raise $2,500 for this fantastic charity.
I'm 20, and lucky enough to be happy and successful at an amazing university that I love, but my life almost didn't work out that way. As a child, I experienced abuse, and at the age of 13 lived a life of uncertainty and fear. It is a feeling that NO child should have to endure...ever. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to find happiness, love, and encouragement with some amazing extended family, and I owe where I am today to the second chance I was given. At 13, I never thought I would ever be this happy, but here I am.
But not everyone has this chance, and they desperately need someone in their corner; someone to fight for them, encourage them, and help them. The Marcie Mazzola Foundation works so hard to help at risk and abused children and teens. Their entire team works tirelessly to improve their lives and give them the chance at happiness and love that every child deserves.
As someone lucky enough to get the help and love that allowed me to become who I am today, I am determined to be a voice for the voiceless, and help these children in any way that I can. And THAT is why I've pledged to run 26.2 miles this November. To run for the Foundation, I need to raise $2,500 to help these kids, and I would really appreciate your help! Every single penny counts. Thank you so much!
