BENEFITING: THE MICHAEL LISNOW RESPITE CENTER
ORGANIZER: THE MICHAEL LISNOW RESPITE CENTER
EVENT: 2017 Boston Marathon
EVENT DATE: Apr 17, 2017
Running the Boston Marathon was something I had always dreamed of doing. Last year I ran Boston for the first time as part of Micheal's Miracle Marathon Team. My journey from Hopkinton to Boston was truly amazing and life changing. To know you are making a difference in so many people's lives is incredible. To see the individuals and their families and the respite center staff along the course wearing matching blue team shirts, cheering me on, giving me high fives, and yelling "thank you" as I ran by left me emotional and speechless. I am honored to be taking this 26.2 mile journey again as part of the Michael's Miracle Marathon Team.
The Respite Center is an official B.A.A. charity that provides services for children and adults with disabilities. They have several programs which include an Adult Day Program, Weekend Respite, After School Care, Day Care (birth - 3yrs), Employment Support for Individuals with Disabilities and Residential Placements.
All of my fundraising efforts will go towards increasing respite and support services for families trying to survive the challenges of raising a child with disabilities. Last year the Respite Center raised just over $600,000 with a team of 72 runners. These funds made it possible to grant scholarships and also provide over 40,000 hours of service to families in need.
Donate today and run with me in spirit as I take my second journey from from Hopkinton to Boston. Join me in this amazing journey as I run to support those amazing people wearing blue Michael Miracle marathon shirts....and cross the 2017 Boston Marathon finish with me...in my heart.
