For those of you that didnt have the chance to meet Midge, she was a glowing person. She was an accomplished businesswoman with an MBA degree, a compassionate volunteer for those in need, and the backbone of her family; as a wife, mother, grandmother and so much more. She brought warmth and energy to a room with her engulfing hugs and homemade ravioli. Midge's kind and generous heart made those around her feel loved, cherished and supported.
Sadly, on Sept 9, 2012, our beloved Midge lost the battle against ovarian cancer. Our fight continues in her honor in the hope that by raising funds for City of Hope's ovarian cancer research that we can save future families from losing the women they love to this deadly cancer.
Why You Should Contribute:
Ovarian cancer is the leading cause of death from gynecologic cancers in the United States. It's symptoms are vague, resembling abdominal distress and as a result the disease often goes undetected.
Currently there are NO effective means of early detection so 75% of the cases are diagnosed late after the cancer has spread to the pelvic region. For those women, the 5 year survival rate is only 10%.
City of Hope provides some of the best treatment possible for cancer patients. They also have some of lowest overhead costs in the medical field for donations, thus most of the donations will go directly to medical research and patient care.
How and How Much Should You Give:
Anything helps so please give whatever you can comfortably afford. To add a little incentive, we've created some perks.
Different donation levels will recieve wonderful gifts from our sponsors!
Silver : $500-$999
Gold : $1,000+
