Stand for Justice & Equity in Education because every child deserves the brightest future possible. Help support The Discovery Center's work in diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice education!
The Discovery Center is committed to BUILDING an equitable and just world where EVERYONE has what they need to grow and thrive. We work in partnership with YOUTH, FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, and COMMUNITIES to FACILITATE nurturing spaces where people can understand and challenge systemic racism and oppression. In all of our programs, we practice critical QUESTIONING, cultivate CONNECTION, and inspire ACTION.
OUR GOAL & CHALLENGE
Because we raised $10,000 before November 29, Newman's Own Foundation will match it! Now we are working to match another gift!! Help us reach our new goal of $25,000!
WHAT WE DO
We offer workshops to children (focused on grades 4 through 8), parents, college students, teachers and other adults who work with youth. With an anti-racist systems focus, we build skills in empathy, inclusion, communication and teamwork.
Our 3-5 day residential camp program provides students access to an affirming, empowering, and intentionally multicultural learning community where student-led, inquiry-based learning is key to a truly transformative experience. Community-based support in the form of donations are vital to the sustainability of our program. We cannot do and be our best without YOU!
FROM CAMPER TO PHILANTHROPIST
Gina is a 6th grade student at SAND Elementary School in Hartford. She came to our camp last year as a 5th grader. Two weeks ago, she signed up to come again and asked her Dad to PLEASE pay the family fee for another child too--any child--so that they could also come to camp. She wanted to share the experience, to be able to give it to another kid. It meant that much to her. Gina is a philanthropist just like you!
Can you give in her honor?
