Would you run 26.2 miles to protect your favorite places? On November 6, 2011, that is exactly what I will be doing! Will you run a mile with me?
I first became involved with the Nature Conservancy after attending a Young Professionals Group event in 2007. Since that first casual encounter, I have volunteered as chairperson of the Membership Committee, sat on the Annual Benefit Event Committee, joined the Board of Directors and currently co-chair the YPG Board. Clearly, I have commitment issues....
James - Are You A Treehugger?
I was raised in New Hampshire - a state with an entire population less than half that of the borough of Brooklyn. The White Mountains, Lake Winnipesaukee, Great Bay and the Seacoast are all places that influenced my appreciation for all things relative to nature. By becoming involved with The Nature Conservancy and its Young Professionals Group, I hope to help preserve great outdoor places just like the ones I was fortunate enough to grow up around.
Wait - I Know James....He's Running an Actual Marathon???
It's true. This challenge is one of the most daunting tasks I have ever undertaken! This will be my first marathon...and maybe my last! As some of you may be aware, a year ago a ruptured disc between my L5-S1 vertebrae left me limping the streets of Manhattan, barely able to walk. With some patience, a top-notch spinal orthopedic surgeon and an out-sized desire to help the Conservancy in any way possible, I feel better than ever and am ready to pound the pavement.
