Hello. I hope this message finds you well. I and my family (Bobby, Tish and Bob) are once again raising funds for the non-profit organization, Family Resource, Information and Education Network for Down Syndrome (FRIENDS). FRIENDS is comprised of volunteers who take no pay and all of the monies raised go back into the Down syndrome community.
FRIENDS sponsor an annual teachers conference that give educators new techniques to help students with Down syndrome (DS) be successful in school. They also provide family grants, scholarships, support scientific and medical research efforts and partner with National Down syndrome organizations to ensure that the future for individuals with Down syndrome is bright.
This year I got to meet the Govenor of Maryland (see picture) when FRIENDS helped to get a law passed that ensures new and expectant parents, of children with DS, get accurate and up-to-date information about DS. FRIENDS also helped to establish the annual Race-4-Respect 5K race in Washington DC to raise DS awareness.
As you know, it takes resources to accomplish all this. I hope you can help us be successful in helping individuals with Down syndrome in every way we can.
Best wishes for a bright future,
