I’M INTERESTED, BUT I HAVE NEVER RAPPELLED. IS THIS EVENT FOR ME?
Absolutely! You will received training before your rappel, including wearing a harness and working the ropes. This will allow you to get a feel for it will feel like to go Over the Edge!
IS IT SAFE?
Your safety is our top priority. In addition to day of training provided to all participants, Over the Edge is OSHA compliant and strictly follows Society of Rope Access Technicians guidelines.
WHO/WHAT IS OVER THE EDGE ANYWAY?
Over the Edge is a special-events company that provides signature events for non-profit organizations across North America. Participants are invited to raise pledges in exchange for the thrilling experience of rappelling over the edge of a local building. Over the Edge takes care of all technical aspects for the event, including the insurance, professional ropes staff and equipment.
AM I OLD ENOUGH? TOO SMALL? TOO BIG?
The minimum age to rappel at this event is 18, and you must fit in the harness. You will fit if you weigh at least 100 but not more than 300 pounds.
CAN I RAPPEL WITH FRIENDS/FAMILIES/COWORKERS?
Of course! Our event is a two-rope event, which means two people will rappel per time slot. We will do our best to accommodate requests to rappel “together,” however we encourage you to form a team and get as many people as possible on board, so you may all rappel down within a specific hour of the day. We encourage you to use #giveorgo to challenge others (either you “give” to me or you “go” down yourself!)
CAN MY COMPANY OR ORGANIZATION SPONSOR THIS EVENT?
Please! We have several support levels available, some of which come with free rappelling spots. The visibility opportunities are excellent here.
DO I HAVE TO PAY ANYTHING?
There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee, but that counts toward your total if you meet your minimum fundraising goal of $1,000. The registration fee is a great way to demonstrate your commitment!
WHAT IF I DON’T RAISE THE MINIMUM? CAN I STILL RAPPEL?
You can do it, and we’ll be with you every step of the way! When you sign up, you will set up your personal fundraising page and we encourage you to begin to reaching out immediately to friends, colleagues, family, etc. via social media, email, snail mail, you name it. Make it fun and be creative! We will also provide you with tips and tools throughout the process to keep you moving forward. Our spots are reserved for the first 90 to reach our $1,000 minimum, so stay focused!
Over the Edge Salt Lake…Rappel THIRTEEN STORIES down the Maverik Base Camp building in downtown Salt Lake to help raise awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault in our community and much needed funds in support of the Salt Lake Area Family Justice Center at the YWCA.

1-in-3 women in Utah will experience sexual violence in her lifetime.
We offer comprehensive, caring services from fourteen partners in one accessible location. When people seek help at the Family Justice Center, they find trauma-informed, compassionate professionals who work with them to identify their needs, help them set personally meaningful goals for a path forward, and assist them in navigating criminal justice and other systems to obtain the resources they need to change their lives.

The first 90 registrants to raise a minimum of $1,000.00 for the Salt Lake Area Family Justice Center will secure their spot on the ropes.
Register as an Individual Once registered, participants are prompted to customize a personal fundraising page. Participants can personalize this page, accept donations, share to social media, and email friends, family, and co-workers to ask for support in fundraising for this important cause.
Want to rappel with friends or co-workers? Create a team! Register a team and encourage friend, family, and/or co-workers to join your team. Each team member will then customize their own personal fundraising page and raise a minimum of $1000 to secure their spot. On rappel day we will make sure to schedule your team to rappel together.
Want to rally employees, customers, and vendors around a great cause? Create a team and challenge them to raise a minimum of $1,000 to Toss the Boss (or another individual of your choosing!) All are welcome to participate in “Toss the Boss,” but only those reaching the $2,000 mark will receive sponsor benefits.
