Primary Health Care and Resource Center is a community run health facility situated in Chapagaun; about 20 KMs south of Kathmandu city in Nepal, rendering essential primary health services to more than 50,000 people. It had initiated a Commuity Based Health Insurance (CBHI) scheme first time in the country that has been continued for last three decades, and also introduced the first nutrition rehabilitation center in the country; now being adopted by other organizations too. The first birthing center was established in the health center premise in 2006 which has now become the most popular among the community people. A team of thirty staff, having professional experiences and compassionate hearts provide the services like daily general clinics, pharmacy, clinical laboratory, X-ray and ultrasound, maternal and child health services, in-patient care, dental clinic, eye and ENT clinics, emergency care, minor surgical services, and most importantly the health education and preventive health services. Recently, it ahs also started a unique scheme called "Community Based School Health Insurance" that has become another pioneering project in the country. The health center adopts the eco-friendly approaches like; alternate energy through solar power, hospital waste disposal in proper way etc. The health center is considerd as a model in the country. Every year, more than 50 international volunteers from American and Europian continents also share their hands with the compassionate staff to provide services to the community people. About two thirds of the total expenses is recovered throught the contribution of community people while the remaining one third is beiing supported by the abroad funding partners.
This site calls all the people with kind hearts to support our initiation in Nepal in order to be an example of how the health facility in Nepal can be run in efficient way by ensuring the quality in services. We are now planning to expand its infrastructure to address the most emereging health care needs of the people mostly from low economic status.
