PKD is a very real issue in my family. My father-in-law, Jim, had PKD and recieved two kidney transplants. Sadly, Jim passed away in 2013. My wife has PKD, as do her sisters. One sister has already received a transplant and works in the transplant field. I have seen first hand what this disease can do, and unfortunately it has continued to be passed on to my children as well. PKD foundation is currently the only foundation raising money soley for PKD research and treatments. I fear for the day I have to walk my wife through the worst experiences of PKD. My goal is to help change the future of PKD through research and awareness. I hope that not only can we change my children's future, but also the future of PKD as a whole. I run in honor of Jim Giessel, and for my family's future.
