“It does not matter how long you are spending on the earth, how much money you have gathered or how much attention you have received. It is the amount of positive vibration you have radiated in life that matters,”
― Amit Ray
I began my running “career” in 2008 raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and signed up to run my first marathon. I realized through that experience, the fundraising was the easy part. The training, dedication and sacrifice is what the biggest learning was. Ever since then, running has helped me through many challenges and without it, I don’t know where I would be. I use running not only to quiet my mind and enjoy the outdoors, but also as a means to give back to others. One way I have maintained the discipline of running has been to train for and run in distance races, which provides me with the challenge/reason I need to keep me going, While I love running, my plan was to take this season off from training for another marathon…life and destiny had other plans. This time I run for the cause of a friend, I will push the distance to make a difference, with your help.
I am excited to be running my 2nd Marathon in NYC while beginning my involvement with the PKD Foundation and Team Tampa PKD with my friend and fellow runner, Scott Bragan. It was at a local running group where I met Scott, who reluctantly shared his story regarding his wife Erika's illness. Scott's team has been formed in support of his wife Erika, who suffers from PKD. The Bragan's are a wonderful, close knit family and I am honored to run in support of Erika's fight. As a proud member of their team, I am asking for your generous support in the Run for PKD program to help raise funds and awareness for Polycystic Kidney Disease. The Run for PKD program is one of the signature fundraising events for PKD patient education and research.
I realize how tight finances are these days. I'm asking for any donation (tax deductible) that you, and/or your company, can make to help make a difference. My total goal to reach by October 1st is $3,500. I want to meet my goal so that I can help make a difference for a beautiful mother, wife and athlete who has faced some true challenges and continues to do so. My challenge of training for the next 16 weeks is nothing compared to what she deals with on a daily basis. I thank you so much, in advance, for your support!
