ABOUT THE FUNDRAISER
For five consecutive years, Latinos Progresando (LP) has organized the Run 4 Latinos campaign. Run 4 Latinos brings together a group of dedicated individuals, who collectively form “Team Latinos,” to run the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and make a difference in the Latino community.
In 2017, Team Latinos is larger than ever. With a total of 23 runners, we are excited to maximize our positive impact for the Latino community.
All proceeds from the Run 4 Latinos campaign will benefit Latinos Progresando’s programs, including providing a path to legal residency, and liberating and empowering immigrant victims of domestic violence through the VAWA Project.
Your support of our runners goes a long way to ensuring that the community has access to the information and resources necessary to thrive.
After the election, I wanted to do everything I could to support organizations that support populations threatened by the new administration. Since I can't donate a lot of money myself right now, the Marathon felt like a really good opportunity to monetarily support a community and city that I care about. I'm also extremely competitive so when the CEO of LP, Luis Gutierrez, asked if I was going to run it, I couldn't say no.
I interned for Latinos Progresando and the Marshall Square Resource Network as an undergraduate, so I know first hand the incredible grassroots work that the organization does. I feel very confident that LP will put any money donated to them to productive use. Also, having worked at LP, I participated in a number of MSRN clean-ups, and played on the LP softball team. I really care about the people who make up the organization and want to help support their work and community in any way I can.
