I am a biologist in the UCLA Department of Rheumatology. We are studying why people with lupus and rheumatoid arthritis develop cardiovascular disease much faster than people who do not have autoimmune disease.
Funding from ANRF has allowed us to explore novel ideas that we think might help identify SLE and RA patients at greater risk of heart disease, and we hope that this ANRF-funded work will lead to earlier treatment for these patients. I am honored to support ANRF and Racing For a Cure at the Long Beach half marathon!
