Dear Family and Friends,
I have been running the "ridge" since the fall of 1988, when coach Stegen introduced me to the trails of Mohonk and the Shawangunk ridge. Over the years and many runs since then, I have come to appreciate the unique gift that these trails provide. I try to run "up on the mountain" every chance I get, especially in mid-October when the fall colors are at their peak.
These trails consist mostly of old carriage roads, some of which are over 100 years old, and on May 4th, I hope to complete the Rock The Ridge challenge (on these very same trails). Rock The Ridge is a 50 mile trail endurance challenge, benefiting the Mohonk Preserve, a non-profit preserve situated in the mid-Hudson Valley of NY, which is dedicated to preserving the land on and around the ridge (The Nature Conservancy has described it as "one of Earth's last great places" - see link below), including maintaining and restoring the trails than run through it.
Please consider joining me in supporting the Mohonk Preserve either by donating (you can "sponsor" one of the 50 miles by donating an amount corresponding to such mile - mile 25 or 50 anyone? how about miles 1 through 5 for $15 dollars?) or by cheering me on during this 50 mile adventure or by passing this along to any of your family and friends.
