I'm proud to be running the TCS NYC Marathon to help children and adults with disabilities in NE and Central Pennsylvania served by Allied Services. Any size donation will help. Donate $30 in my honor and you'll be eligible to receive a cool moisture-wicking Ryan's Run exercise shirt.
Over the past year, my boyfriend, Johnny, and I have been working on getting back in shape by making great strides to change our lifestyle. Within the last 6 months we have really stepped up our game with exercise and eating clean and in that time I’ve lost almost 40lbs and feel amazing! When I heard about the opportunity to participate in the New York City Marathon on behalf of ParenteBeard, Allied Services and Ryan’s Run, I couldn’t help but think that it would make the perfect culmination to my journey towards leading a healthy lifestyle. As soon as Johnny heard my plan he knew I would make him train with me, so he signed up for the Marine Corps Marathon. We are now in the midst of intense marathon training and loving every minute of it!
I have to admit, when I originally signed up I never thought I would be selected to participate in this event, but hey at least I could say I tried right? Well, then I received the voicemail saying that I had been chosen and fear and slight nausea overcame me. However, a couple days later Allied Services sent me some videos about the kind of services they provide and how the money raised by the Ryan’s Run team is used to help people.
I was completely blown away. I am not by any means are considered a “runner”, but after watching just a few short clips of how much these donations are helping I became determined to finish this race even if I have to crawl across the finish line!
This will be my first marathon and I’m dedicated to training hard to make my ParenteBeard, Allied Services and Ryan’s Run family proud!
