BENEFITING: The Sgt Daniel Vasselian Memorial Fund
ORGANIZER: The Sgt Daniel Vasselian Memorial Fund
Dear First Marathon,
Please be nice to me. I never thought I would tackle 26.2 miles, at least not all at once. But here I am, training for my first marathon. I will be traveling to Washington D.C. on October 25, 2015 for the 40th Marine Corps Marathon and could not be more humbled to be on a team to raise money for the SGT. Daniel Vasselian Memorial Fund.
The last couple years have been eye opening... I became a mother to two of the most precious (and energetic) little boys, with a husband that has stood strong by my side despite my flaws. I have owned a photography business and practiced as a dental hygienist which I can not be more proud of. I have held my mothers hand through a breast cancer battle that I never thought would touch my family. The list could go on.
But I will never forget December 23, 2013. The phone call. My husbands facial expression. The blank stare when he hung up the phone. The following days, weeks, and now years...
Sgt. Daniel Vasselian made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. And our military puts their lives on the line every day for us. This fundraiser will raise money to assist veterans, active duty service members, and military families of Massachusetts.
So in my mind, the least I can do is run 26.2 miles.
And I'm proud to be an American,
where at least I know I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died,
who gave that right to me.
