At SHFT Mobile Kitchen Classroom, we are committed to combating childhood obesity and putting our nation’s youth on the path to health independence. Your donations will provide essential support for the School Garden at Bard High School Early College in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, and the Mobile Kitchen Classroom, a fully-equipped teaching kitchen that will provide high school students throughout the five boroughs with the opportunity to learn basic cooking techniques and prepare simple, delicious, and healthy meals.
Hands-on lessons in gardening and cooking will be linked to school curriculum at the high school level, enriching explorations in science, math, history, the arts, and more, and helping students achieve their full academic potential. In addition, the school garden and the teaching kitchen will provide beautiful and inspiring spaces where educators, chefs, farmers, and others can come together to share meals, exchange stories, and generate ideas. Our hope is that these experiences will empower students as well as the broader community to make healthier decisions for themselves and the planet.
All efforts will help us create inspiring educational opportunities, combat childhood obesity, and empower our city’s youth to make healthier decisions, for themselves, their communities, and the planet.
