BENEFITING: FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT INC
EVENT DATE: Feb 09, 2017
Dear STEM Student Advocate,
You are invited to join us at the 31st Annual STEM Conference in Washington, DC on February 9-11, 2017 and more importantly to become part of the excitement of offering a life-changing experience to a deserving student. Your contribution will fund tuition and expenses for college students who want to attend the Black Engineer of the Year Awards STEM Conference.
A donation of $500 to the Foundation for Educational Development, Inc. (FEDI) supports one student traveling up to 250 miles to the conference. It includes soft-skills workshops, meals, networking with professionals, round trip bus transportation, and accommodations for two nights (airfare does not apply). Last year with donor support, FEDI enrolled 1400 out-of-state college students in the 30th Annual BEYA TEM Conference College Program. This means that underrepresented students in college benefitted from career advice and connections to help them successfully complete the STEM curriculum and to be successful in life.
Who We Are:
The Foundation for Educational Development, Inc. (FEDI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, federal identification number: 52-1929345, was founded in 1993 to promote engineering, science, and technology to underrepresented men and women through professional and career development, educational programs, awards programs, and career placement opportunities. FEDI has developed programs designed to reach various levels of minorities and women. This commitment reaches pre-college and college-aged youth, as well as professionals and executives. FEDI has developed and sponsored a series of professional seminars, symposia, and workshops.
The shifting demographics of the American workforce and the low graduation rates among minority STEM students place high importance on including all of our citizens in the STEM labor force. Many underrepresented STEM college students are failing to graduate with STEM degrees leaving professional opportunities unfilled or under-resourced. The students served by the BEYA STEM Conference are typically first generation college attendees who must rely on external resources to not only provide the inspiration and role models to navigate the college experience, but also need funding to participate in professional events where they can make meaningful connections.
Raise funds for fellowships to provide students in college with access to professional conferences to build their soft-skills, network with professionals in the STEM arena, as well as to find employment in their field. This college program inspires and educates students as they network with, and learn from, professionals in their fields of study.
STEM students work hard and we want to make sure that they benefit from the advantages that come from attending professional conferences like the BEYA STEM Conference.
You can help a deserving student to experience the 31st Annual BEYA College STEM Conference with your gift today!
