Boston Marathon Complete
April 18, 2017
Thank you for visiting my Samaritans Marathon Team fundraising page. I have the honor of running the 2017 Boston Marathon on behalf of the Samaritans, a non-profit suicide prevention organization. This will be my first ever marathon!
As many of you know suicide became a part of my life when my brother took his own life in October 2014. The loss of my younger and only brother was and still is devastating to my family and I. We struggle with his loss every day. JJ took his life only a few weeks before his 19th birthday due to health and mental difficulties. JJ was energetic, kind hearted and an amazing person. But he hid his internal struggles from all of us. One of the things we learned from his passing was that he felt ashamed of himself and therefore did not feel comfortable talking to us about his challenges. Unfortunately for JJ he never knew about the Samaritans and their life-saving programs.
In addition to helping spread awareness about the Samaritans I am fundraising money to help support the many programs the Samaritans provide, which are all 100% free of charge. Please help me in supporting the Samaritans by donating. Every donation, even as small as 5 dollars makes a difference because there are many people like JJ who suffer with depression on a daily basis. If just one life is saved from my efforts, it will mean the world to me because everyone has a JJ in their life.

Thanks to the John Hanock Non-Profit Marathon Program, this is the 10th consecutive year that Samaritans has received bib numbers for our Marathon Team.
