Team Seleni Spartans put their physical and mental strengths to the test at the Spartan Sprint at CitiField on Saturday May 13th, 2017 (3-5 miles, 20-23 obstacles) to spread awareness and raise money to support mental health for women, men, and families.
We are strong. We are resilient. We are Seleni Spartans.
The annual Seleni Challenge is the perfect opportunity to put the Seleni Institute’s mission of supporting women and families directly into action. By participating as a team in 2017's Spartan Sprint at CitiField, our runners’ physical and mental strengths are put to the test. Not only do our runners help each other through the various obstacles, but they also build friendships and create bonds while training for the event and raising brand awareness and funding for the shared goal of improving mental health for women and families. Each dollar raised by Team Seleni Spartans directly supports Seleni's financial assistance program, which provides clinical services to women and families who would otherwise be unable to afford them.
The Seleni Institute is a nonprofit organization that was founded by Nitzia and George Logothetis in 2011 to destigmatize and transform mental health and wellness by addressing real-life issues that challenge the emotional health of women, men, and their families, including: pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, infertility/3rd party reproduction, miscarriage, stillbirth, menopause, parenting, and child loss.
We eradicate stigma by increasing the availability and accessibility of mental health care worldwide by: treating patients, training professionals, including psychologists, therapists, OBGYNs, pediatricians, nurses, and midwives, providing public programs, including new parent groups, breastfeeding clinics, and adolescent services, funding research, providing curated content online, and advocating in public and private sectors.
Seleni seeks to create a world where our mental health is valued as much as our physical health so that everyone has an opportunity to reach their potential.
