Often when we hear of tragedies we say, “Wow, I wish there was something I could to do help.” Days go by and a new tragedy strikes and we continue to feel for those hurt in the terrible issues they are facing.
We teach our children at Wooden Acres to help those in need and now we have the opportunity to make a difference.
Shining Star Camps (a nonprofit organization), in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Flint, will be offering a program for the children of Flint to attend an overnight camp for one week this summer. We'll bring 10 children a week from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Flint to have an amazing experience at camp, a program that will be fully subsidized through donations.
We can make a difference in a child’s life. Please help us to help our neighbors in Flint. Every $500 will allow a child whose daily life has been so burdened to have the most fantastic summer camp experience.
Sponsor a child as a family, or get multiple families together to help send a child from Flint to camp. As our way to say thanks, all who sponsor a child will be invited to Wooden Acres this summer to take part in a celebration honoring your donations to this special program.
Shining Star Camps is located at Wooden Acres Camp in Lexington Michigan, as part of Wooden Acres Camp.
For those of you who are new to Wooden Acres, our private waterfront includes water-skiing and a fleet of canoes, sailboats, kayaks and windsurfs. Lake Huron is transformed into our very own water park! Campers also enjoy overnight camping, cookouts, baseball diamonds, basketball, volleyball, tetherball, archery, fine arts, tennis, and more. Campers have buffet style meals in the dining hall prepared by our staff in the camp’s modern kitchen facilities. Campers in each bunk, together with their counselor, map out a balanced weekly program. The emphasis is on fun, in a safe, supervised environment that provides opportunity for learning and personal development.
