DEADLINE TO GIVE: Dec 31, 2017
Low literacy affects entire communities—Chicago is no exception.
49% of Chicago Public Schools 4th graders are reading below basic levels of proficiency and 30% of adults have low basic literacy skills. The Chicago Literacy Alliance and its members believe that all Chicago residents should have the opportunity to develop not only basic literacy skills necessary for independent, lives, but also a love of reading.
The CLA knows that the most innovative, successful solutions to these complex issues are not going to come from just one person or organization—they’ll come from a wide range of expertise and perspectives. That’s why we strive to help more than 100 literacy organizations in Chicago to meet the literacy needs for people of all ages and backgrounds.
We are dedicated to our mission of increasing the combined impact of our community’s literacy organizations by providing opportunities for creative and effective collaboration. Working together, we envision a 100% literate Chicago—please consider joining us in our efforts!
