SolSolution is a non-profit organization created to address inequalities in education and energy supply by installing solar panels in schools and reinvesting energy profits back into their educational budgets. This makes it both easy and financially feasible for local schools to use solar energy at no initial cost, allowing us to address the blatant social and environmental issues threatening our future. For more information on SolSolution as an organization, please visit our charity page: www.crowdrise.com/solsolution1.
We are currently fundraising for our pilot installation at Aruna’s Place, a preschool in Sudbury, MA. The preschool owner, Aruna Pundit signed a Letter of Intent with SolSolution in July of 2010 agreeing to participate in our educational power purchase agreement (E-PPA) model and install solar photo-voltaic panels on her school. The final product will be a 3.4 kW photovoltaic system, the power from which will be sold back to Aruna’s Place at a reduced and fixed rate. With our E-PPA, the monetary profits from the energy generated at Aruna’s Place will be used to give much-needed educational grants to low-income schools that join our model in the future.
We are partnering with the Massachusetts solar contracting company Alteris Renewables, and so far we’ve raised $8,000 out of the $21,000 needed to cover the project costs. Amassing this money is the last step toward installing the solar panels on the school’s roof, and 100% of your contribution will go toward purchasing and installing the panels on Aruna’s roof.
