It's springtime in Seattle and that means getting out on the bike for good causes! Please consider chipping in 20 bucks toward helping me reach my $1,000 goal for the Streets+Beets ride on May 10, which supports Alleycat Acres/Sustainable Seattle. I know I'm not fundraising this year for something with the gravitas of the "Big C" (cancer) but ensuring that folks in inner-city neighborhoods have access to the land and resources for growing fresh, healthy food makes a huge difference in everyday life.
Streets+Beets supports operations on all three of Alleycat Acres' collective farms (http://www.alleycat-acres.org/) in the Central District and Beacon Hill and enables them to continue converting vacant spaces into community gathering places. Alleycat Acres is entirely volunteer-powered and S+B ensures that no one has to pay, ever, for access to the healthy food grown on-site.
