Strut Your Kidney, a dash for NW Kidney Kids
EVENT DATE: Sep 24, 2017
On Sept 24 come join us for our first annual 10K, 5K and 1 mile Family Fun Run/Walk. Each event starts and finishes at the beautiful Sellwood Riverfront Park in SE Portland. Strut Your Kidney is to celebrate, honor and raise awareness for children with chronic kidney disease. All proceeds raised will go to Northwest Kidney Kids, the only organization supporting children with kidney disease and their families in the Northwest.
NW Kidney Kids is in a unique position because we are the only organization with a focus on serving youth (birth -18) with chronic kidney disease and their families in the Northwest. Kidney disease is a lifelong disease. There is no cure. Children, teens and their families need tools to manage this chronic condition. NW Kidney Kids mission is to offer hope and support to these children and their families. We provide prevention services, educational programs and group activities that empower Kidney Kids to take charge of their health, embrace their future, and achieve lifelong success.
How does this work? First, you will need to use the Registered button where you will be taken to Event Registration site. You can decide which events you would like to participate in and registered any dependent at the same time. After you go through the registration process and checkout you will be redirected back to this page where you can set up your team page.
What does a team page do? Your team page is where you can raise additional support for NW Kidney Kids! It allows you to ask your friends and families for donations to support you in your run. You are able to customize your team page with #whyyourun and #whynwkidneykidsmatters. You can also invite your friends and families to join you the day of the event as a runner (or walker) and raise additional support.
What should my team goal be? We encourage each team captain to recruit 4 more team members and set your goal at $1000 per team. 5 members raise $200 each you hit your goal! The beautiful thing about this type of friend raising is that it is microdonations that add up to a large number that will have a huge impact on children and families in our community.
The TOP fundraising TEAM CAPTAIN wins a two night complimentary stay at the contemporary Riverhouse on the Deschutes, in Bend, Oregon. TOP 5 fundraising INDIVIDUALS choose from an awesome assortment of dining and adventure gift cards, or even a beautiful Healing Kidney Necklace inspired by one of our Kidney Moms.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Please bring your ID during bib pick up. Children 5 and under are free.

Yes! All are welcome! We just ask those non-competitive wheelers to hang back at the start to avoid congestions along the sidewalk.
