BENEFITING: American Red Cross
EVENT DATE: Nov 04, 2012
We have spent the better part of this year training for tomorrow with different goals in mind. We had come to believe, single-mindedly, that our efforts needed to be rewarded, that we had something to prove. The Marathon was the be-all, end-all. And then it wasn't. People are suffering beyond what we can understand. In the light of the loss felt by those around us, we believe that canceling the NYC Marathon was the right decision. We will live to run another day, another race. However, we do not believe that this can mean the end of this fundraiser.
Thank you to those who have donated to the American Red Cross on our behalf. Please help us to reach our original goal of $2620 by Sunday by continuing to spread the word. Send the NY region all the love and support we can muster.
We are Flatiron Running employees, running the NYC Marathon on November 4, 2012. Over the past few days, we have seen our beloved city devastated by the destruction of Hurricane Sandy. Many of our fellow employees have suffered damage to the homes and neighborhoods.
We know the power of runners coming together for a common cause and event. We believe running is the greatest metaphor for overcoming challenges and hardships- and the challenges and hardships faced by our community will weigh heavily on our minds and hearts throughout this race. Please join our efforts in celebrating, supporting and rebuilding our great city by pledging your support (in any denomination). All proceeds to benefit the American Red Cross.
We run this city. We run New York.
We love you, New York.
