In the past 3 years I've run 7 races of various lengths, and always for "myself".
This year I decided to do something for others as a part of my running endeavors. My goal is to raise $2000 for the Susan G. Komen Marathon for the Cure in memory of my grandmother, Peggy, who died in 1985 at the young age of 52 after battling breast cancer.
I was only 4 when she died, and my hope is that these fundraising efforts can lead to a cure and increased awareness that will allow other children the opportunity to spend their entire childhood (and even longer!) with their grandmothers.
My goal is to get as many friends and family as possible to donate just a $1 per mile (it should be $26.20, but Crowdrise doesn't do fractions of a dollar, so let's round to $27) to this worthy cause. Come on! That's the easy part!
I'll be out there burning almost 1,000 calories an hour, stride after stride, pounding the pavement with 500-600 pounds of force for over 4 hours. All you have to do is get up, walk to your wallet/purse, grab your credit card and type 16 numbers. You can even give just $10 total, $100 per mile, or even more! It's up to you, every little bit helps! You can also donate anonymously if you don't want the rest of the world knowing you're spilling over with cash. Your donation is tax-deductible and you can use your confirmation email as proof if those wacky IRS folks ever come after you.
The best part about your donation? Even if I bonk, your donation still goes to a worthy cause!
What are you waiting for? I've already donated, why haven't you!
